Russian Railways' Network Loads 100.6 m Tons of Freight in June
OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2014. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' network loaded 100.6 m tons of freight in June 2014, 2.8%. less than in June 2013.
Freight turnover in June 2014 increased by 6.1% compared to June 2013 and amounted to 188.4 tariff billion ton-kilometres. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs in the same month increased by 6.3% to 241.8 billion ton-km.
According to the latest figures, loading volumes in January-June 2014 fell to 599.5 m tons, 1% less than the same period in 2013. The railways shipped the following goods. Figures in brackets show the change compared to January-June 2013:
coal – 150,7 m tons (-0,9%);
coke – 5,7 m tons (-2,3%);
oil and petroleum products – 128,1 m tons (+2,6%);
iron and manganese ores – 53,8 m tons (-0,9%);
ferrous metals – 35,3 m tons (-0,2%);
ferrous metal scrap – 7,2 m tons (-5,3%);
chemical and mineral fertilisers – 25,2 m tons (+8,4%);
cement – 15,7 m tons (-6,2%);
timber – 19,9 m tons (+10,4%);
grain and milled products – 6,8 m tons (+55,4%);
construction materials – 69,9 m tons (-15,2%);
non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 9,7 m tons (-4%);
chemicals and soda – 13 m tons (-4%);
industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 17,1 m tons (+8,1%).
Freight turnover since the beginning of 2014 amounted to 1,130.9 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 5.6%. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs was up 6.4%. to 1,459.5 billion ton-km.
