Railway Set on Bridge Restored from U.S. Funds in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2014. A railway was set on a bridge nearby the Ghindesti village, northern Floresti district, restored with U.S. funds.
Trains will move on this bridge starting from today evening.
The works to install the railway were made in the presence of American Ambassador William Moser, Deputy Transports and Roads Infrastructure Minister Boris Gherasim and the executive director of the Millennium Challenge Account Moldova (FPM), Valentina Badrajan.
A press release by the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau says that the bridge was constructed under the highest international standards.
The bridge has a length of 77 metres, a width of four metres and a height of 8.5 metres. The set railroad has about 620 metres.
The overall budget earmarked to built and install the railway bridge is about 2.4 million dollars, with the money provided by the U.S. Government within the Compact Programme.
The new bridge will replace the old one, which dated back from the 19th century and had one band.
