SHE Transmission Considers Alternative Substation Site
OREANDA-NEWS. Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission (SHE Transmission) will make a further assessment of its proposals to upgrade the network between Beauly and Tomatin in the Highlands.
It follows extensive consultation on its proposals with local residents, who have suggested a new site in the Glen Kyllachy Forest area on the Farr Road.
It will now be the subject of additional surveys to assess its suitability.
Andrew McLaren, Project Manager, SHE Transmission said: “As a responsible developer, we know how important it is to work positively with local communities and keep people informed about what we are doing. This is particularly important when we are developing a proposal and we want to understand what local people think about our plans.
“It is for this reason that we take the time to discuss our proposals with local community councils, encourage engagement from the wider community and listen to the feedback we receive.
"It is important that we take time to investigate the options fully and ensure we develop an overall solution that can be delivered - balancing technical, environmental and economic considerations. I would like to thank residents for their patience while we are carrying out this work.”
SHE Transmission held a total of eight consultation exhibitions over three rounds in November 2013, January 2014 and April 2014 to enable local residents and interested parties to provide feedback or comments on the proposed Beauly-Knocknagael-Tomatin project.
