OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2014. Monchegorsk In line with the Nickel refinement salt flow recycling investment project Kola MMC (subsidiary of MMC Norilsk Nickel) commenced the construction of another major unit – intermediate salt storage depositary.

Nickel refinement salt flow recycling is one of the most important investment projects brought to life by Norilsk Nickel in Murmansk region facilitating neutralization of nickel production hazardous impact on ecosystems of water resources adjacent to the operation site of Kola MMC in Monchegorsk. The project investments amount to RUB 1,5 billion.

The project envisages construction of a modern installation of evaporation of salt flow – liquid residues due to chemical products employment at nickel electroplating. Evaporation will accompany the recycled steam mechanical compression in the process that basically comprehends the use of electric power. Besides, the use of this installation guarantees an extra output of sodium sulphate and chloride. It’s for the storage of these components that a specially equipped depositary is designated, At present, basement pits undergo preparation stage.

The project build-up stage started a year ago. By the present moment, the contractor employees have installed piles under the carcass of salt flow recycling, prepared piles concrete arrangements, basement settlement, basement beam assembly and metallic carcass parts of the evaporation and drying unit.
