LAX Approves New Low-Cost Bus Routes
OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2014. Two new low-cost FlyAway® bus routes for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be established in Santa Monica and Hollywood later this year, due to the approval by the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners of an amended contract between Corinthian Ground Transportation and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the City department that owns and operates LAX.
The FlyAway® buses will provide direct service to and from each of the LAX terminals.
The FlyAway® service at Santa Monica buses will be non-stop to LAX, picking up passengers on the east side of Main Street north of Pico Boulevard at the Santa Monica Civic Center. Anticipated start date for this service is July 15, 2014.
The FlyAway® stop for Hollywood will be located on the east side of Vine Street one-half block south of Hollywood Boulevard. The Hollywood service is expected to begin in mid-September 2014. The FlyAway® bus from Hollywood will make one stop in both directions at the La Brea Station of the Metro Expo Light Rail Line.
One-way fares for both FlyAway® bus routes will be USD8.
Airport staff projects first-year operating costs for the service in Santa Monica will be USD 730,000 and USD 665,000 for Hollywood.
These two join the four FlyAway® locations already in existence: Expo/La Brea, Union Station, Van Nuys, and Westwood.
