Tele2 and Tula Region Government Sign Agreement of Intent
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, and the Tula Region government have signed an agreement of intent aimed at developing telecom sector. Over a year and a half the operator is planning to invest over 280 mn rubles in developing the region’s mobile infrastructure.
The agreement has been signed by Yuriy Andrianov, Tula Region First Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Government, and Tele2 Chief Operational Officer Dmitriy Lopatukhin.
The agreement is seeking to boost cooperation between Tele2 and the Tula Region government in developing mobile infrastructure, invest into the region’s economy and contribute to implementation of joint social and economic projects.
According to the document, Tula Region will be one of the key regions to launch broadband Internet. Besides, Tele2 will continue investing funds in increasing capacities and reliability of the current 2G network.
The agreement is solving an important social task – expanding coverage and increasing capacity of network to provide low-cost mobile services. This investment project implies both large-scale construction and modernization of the current network facilities.
Dmitriy Lopatukhin, Chief Operational Officer at Tele2:
“Tula Region has entered the list of Tele2’s key developers. Tula will become one of the first regions where the company starts providing broadband mobile Internet on 4G LTE network. Implementation of programs jointly developed with the region’s government will not only help effectively provide the population’s needs in high-quality services but also improve overall living standards of people in the region. That is why we will continue supporting the programs of the regional administration aimed at development of economic and social sphere.”
Yuriy Andrianov, Tula Region First Deputy Governor, Chairman of the Government:
“Better availability of modern services and standards of living is a common task of business and government, we are looking at Tele2 as a promising and reliable partner, cooperation with whom is aimed at implementation of high priority tasks.”
This is not the first investment agreement between Tele2 and the Tula Region government. In compliance with the previous document as of 2012 the company has already invested over 500 mn rubles into the region’s network development.
