CEPSA, OPEL Sign Agreement to Promote Use of Autogas
OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2014. CEPSA has signed an agreement with the automaker Opel to promote and boost the use of autogas as an automotive fuel, and bifuel technology. With this agreement, two leading brands that are deeply involved in the development of this technology are joining forces to develop this alternative fuel.
Last year CEPSA launched an investment of 10 million euros to install pumps for liquefied petroleum gas in 100 petrol stations located in major Spanish cities and on the motorways that link them. For its part, Opel has an extensive offering of vehicles of this type which, moreover, it produces in Spain.
In the words of Filipe Enriques, CEPSA Director of Liquefied Gas “the partnership with Opel will mean a huge boost in the establishment of autogas in Spain. In addition, it represents yet another CEPSA agreement with a vehicle manufacturing company. Autogas has numerous economic and environmental advantages for drivers and customers. It's the right time to go a step further in our expansion project”.
Enrico De Lorenzi, on the other hand, indicated that “Opel is committed to alternative and clean fuels such as LPG, which is enjoying great success in numerous European countries because of its economic advantages, its respect for the environment, and because of the great autonomy that LPG-powered vehicles offer. We welcome this agreement, which will encourage our customers, especially fleet operators, to commit to this fuel in response to the increasing availability of refuelling points”.
The “CEPSA Autogas Campaign”, which aims to promote consumption of this product among CEPSA employees in Spain, will also be getting underway as part of the company's environmental policy. This campaign will make it possible for CEPSA employees to buy Opel autogas vehicles at special prices they won't be able to find directly at Opel dealers.
