RusHydro's Plants of Volga-Kama Cascade Go through Peak Flooding
OREANDA-NEWS. JSC RusHydro (ticker symbol: MOEX, LSE: HYDR; OTCQX: RSHYY) announces that according to the current hydrological conditions of the Volga and Kama rivers the spring flooding is now complete. Despite low water inflows hydropower plants of the Volga-Kama cascade managed to keep power generation at long-run average levels.
Also, the cascade supplied 85.5-86 km3 of additional water inflows to the river's lower reach which is only by 31% lower than last year when water inflows had been much higher.
In April-May 2014, total water inflow to reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade amounted to 101.6 km3 as compared to the normal level of 138.3 km3. In June, water inflow to reservoirs of the cascade is expected to be 121 km3, or 75% of normal level. Currently, the estimated useful storage of the Volga-Kama cascade reservoirs amounts to 75.93 km3, which is 2.6% lower than long-run average.
