OREANDA-NEWS. In 2014 ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih will donate 15 mln UAH for social programs implementation in Kryvyi Rih. Today Artem Polyakov, CEO of the plant and Yury Vilkul, Kryvyi Rih city mayor had signed the partnership agreement for social and economic development of the city between executive committee of Kryvyi Rih city council and ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih. According to the agreement ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is supporting financially the city social projects that will enable improvement in living standards of Kryvyi Rih city residents.

In 2014 ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih will invest in the following social initiatives:

6 mln UAH for improvement and repair of central and inter-district roads and networks of external light in Central-city and Dzershinskiy districts of Kryvyi Rih;

3 mln UAH for setting up Steel Workers' park near Kryvyi Rih Youth and Students Palace (including planting of 80 trees, setting of new benches, of sports ground for skaters and rollers, of Wi-Fi zone in the park;

3 mln UAH for setting of lighting of the city territory between the 3rd section region and Gorky square on occasion of 80th anniversary of the plant, which ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih's employees will celebrate in August 2014;

3 mln UAH for the capital repair of 6 city trolleybuses.

Аrtem Pоlyakov, CEO, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih: “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih significantly contributes to the economy of Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk region, Kryvyi Rih city as one of the largest tax-payers in the country. In 2013 the company paid 643 mln UAH in taxes to the local treasury. Herewith within 5 months of 2014 we have already transferred to the local treasury approximately 281 mln UAH i.e. 27 mln UAH more than for the same period in 2013. However we are willing to do more for our employees, their families and all Kryvyi Rih residents than the law requires. In 2014 together with the local authorities we will implement specific projects, benefiting all city residents. Social initiatives of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih traditionally aim to provide good living standards for our employees, so that Kryvyi Rih becomes more successful, developed and modern city”.

Annualy ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih signs similar agreements for social cooperation with the local authorities. In 2010-2013 the plant spent 60 mln UAH for financial support of the city's social projects, including:

construction of the railroad at the “Koltsevaya” express tram station;

comprehensive reconstruction and improvement of Yuzny Avenue;

installation of metal-plastic windows at Kryvyi Rih schools and hospitals;

regular road maintenance;

repair of roofs of the residential houses;

acquisition and installation of equipment (fitness machines) at city schools' sports grounds.
