OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2014. During the solemn ceremony occasioned to the launch of the construction works, Avia Invest Director General Petr Jardan said the modernization works at the airport were to be started in August -September, but, in fact, started several months beforehand.

The investment in the construction of the four-level parking with 823 parking lots is estimated at EUR 7 million. The contract for the construction was vied for by many companies, including those from Germany, Italy and Turkey.

The contract has been won by Urbanproect (Moldova), founded in 1994. Moldovan company Exfactor Grup, founded in 2004) has been announced the general contractor of the construction. Until the parking is built, passengers and carriers are offered to use 260 parking lots at the east side of the air terminal (this is 100 lots more than it has been).

On November 2013 the government conceded the right to run Chisinau International Airport to Avia Invest for 49 years. In return, the company has committed to invest in the airport’s development EUR 244.2 million, with EUR 45 million to be invested on the first stage.
