OREANDA-NEWS. June 18, 2014. Prime Minister Karim Massimov delivered a welcoming speech at the V International Congress of Mining and Metallurgy Congress "Astana Mining & Metallurgy" (AMM).

Addressing the participants of the congress, Karim Massimov said that "mining and metallurgical complex (MMC) in Kazakhstan is one of the key areas of the economy, which share is 18% in total industrial output, and employs about 300 000 people."

Prime Minister noted importance of implementation of the national program of forced industrial-innovative development for development of MMC. "Thanks to NP FIID, 50 new productions have been commissioned in the mining industry. Another 7 projects are planned to be launched this year," K. Massimov added.

Prime Minister also said that "Government has approved the Comprehensive Plan for development of the mining industry until 2018."

Head of Government wished the AMM participants constructive discussions, having noted that "Congress has become a significant international platform to discuss critical issues of the mining industry over the years."
