OREANDA-NEWS.  ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. delegation headed by the company Director General Vladimir Verkhovtsev took part in the 6th International Forum ATOMEXPO-2014.

Guests of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. exhibition stand had the opportunity to receive full information on the activities of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation’s mining arm, as well as to see and touch uranium ore and yellow cake samples stored in special installations. These samples were provided by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. for Rosatom’s stand.

During six years of its existence, the ATOMEXPO Forum has become one of highlighting events, which serves as a venue for discussing the most relevant issues of the global nuclear industry and defining its further development trends.

The Forum is aimed at sharing world’s advanced experience in the area of nuclear industry and new approach implementation practices; expanding footprint; presenting new products and services to champions of the global nuclear industry; discussing and analyzing problems and options relating to development of the world energy market.

Within the framework of the ATOMEXPO-2014 Forum, a specialized exhibition was held, which involved the participation of both Russia’s and foreign leading companies from the nuclear and associated industries.

The main topic of the Plenary Session was Nuclear Industry as a Condition of Energy Stability. Mr. Luis Echбvarri, former Director General of the Nuclear Energy Agency under the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), acted as its moderator. Major speakers included Alexander Bychkov, IAEA Deputy Director General; Sergey Kirienko, Director General of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation; Luc Oursel, CEO of AREVA; Agneta Rising, President of the World Nuclear Association; Takuya Hattori, President of JAIF and others.

At the Forum sessions, heads of Russia’s and international largest nuclear industry organizations discussed conditions of the industry further development, nuclear energy competitive ability and many other issues. For example, Sergey Kirienko noted in his speech, “Rapidly developing economies are challenged with a particular need for the nuclear energy.” Following results of the discussions, most participants expressed their confidence that the nuclear energy share in the world energy mix would increase. In participants’ opinion, a competitive advantage of the nuclear energy consists in power production cost. A number of round table discussions were devoted to cost optimization of power generated at NPPs, as well as to enhancement of the whole nuclear industry.

Some significant documents on cooperation in the nuclear area were signed at the Forum.

The 6th International Forum ATOMEXPO-2014 featured the participation of 3,544 representatives from 600 organizations, including 283 foreign companies.
