Pakistanґs Prime Minister Inaugurates OMV Gas Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. The Mehar gas and condensate processing facilities, located in the very west of the Sindh Province of Pakistan, were today inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. OMV is the operator of the Mehar concession and holds an interest of 59.2%. Mehar (Phase 1) came on stream by year-end 2013 and is expected to deliver a production of 4,300 boe/d net to OMV in 2014.
Jaap Huijskes, OMV Executive Board Member responsible for Exploration and Production, in Islamabad: "OMV thanks the Honorable Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Government for the strong support and commitment to boost the energy sector in general and for today's official inauguration of Mehar gas plant in particular. This is an encouraging day for Pakistan's gas supply and will have a further positive impact on OMV production. OMV has been committed to Pakistan for more than two decades and invested together with its joint venture partners approximately USD 2 bn. I am delighted that the Government of Pakistan has been implementing measures to accelerate domestic developments and by that enable additional domestic energy supply to the people and the economy of Pakistan."
The Mehar Exploration License and Development and Production Lease were acquired by OMV in 2011 in the course of acquiring the entire share capital of Petronas Carigali (Pakistan) Ltd. The Mehar development included the drilling of one additional production well, completion of three production wells, and the construction of a central gas and condensate processing plant in Mehar.
OMV's joint venture partners in Mehar are GHPL (25%), OPL (11.8%) and ZPCL (4%).
