OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2014. Round table on "Accreditation: confidence in security of energy supply" was held in National Accreditation Centre of Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology, MINT.

Every year international community celebrates World Accreditation Day, which takes place under "Accreditation: confidence in security of energy supply" this year.

Round table was opened by Chairman of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Birzhan Kaneshev. In his opening speech, he said that the role of accreditation in development of energy security is very high, as a highly competitive market requires trust when products or services are subject to human health, environment and trade. One of the tools to ensure that confidence is accreditation.

Today, markets of power industry raises very important questions that directly relate to human health and the environment.

Is used energy environmentally clean and safe? Is it a threat to life and health? Do pollutant emissions exceed maximum permissible level?

Can we trust the quality of fuel used? Are the measurement conducted in this area accurate enough and do they meet the requirements of consumers and the state - tax revenues and duties established, etc.

All these questions are very topical in the whole world, and especially for us, on the eve of organization and holding International Exhibition EXPO 2017, which, as everyone knows, will be held under "Future Energy".

The demand for energy is growing every year, and we are faced with the problem of limited fuel resources. Industrial plants are required to reduce emissions of pollutants and provide proper level of energy efficiency. The role of accreditation in development of energy saving is extremely important, as providing for authoritative assessment of bodies by conformity assessment, laboratories and inspection bodies are an indispensable mechanism in the chain of power supply both in terms of traditional and in development of new renewable energy sources.
Assessment of product compliance with national and international standards is done by the bodies on conformity assessment and / or testing laboratories. And the competence of such bodies and laboratories, in turn, is confirmed by a single authorized body. In Kazakhstan, this function is performed by the National Accreditation Center.

Round table discussed development of energy management in Kazakhstan, including by an example of internationally recognized system KAIZEN, and in accordance with requirements of ISO 50001, accreditation role in development of trust in the security of energy supply, further long-term plans and objectives of the accreditation system in energy conservation.
