OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2014. Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) received American Chamber of Commerce Award in ‘HSE” category at the official Annual Gala Dinner ceremony held in Almaty.

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Kazakhstan represents nearly 200 member companies including US, multi-national, and local businesses in 30 industry sectors. The Chamber provides an opportunity for its members and country government officials to find ways for cooperation and dialogue, promotes an open forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and experience for doing business in Kazakhstan.

The Award Ceremony was attended by diplomats, CEO’s and prominent cultural and political figures. A total of thirteen awards were presented by U.S. Ambassador John Ordway, AmCham President Kenneth Mack, and AmCham Board Members.

The AmCham HSE Award recognizes successful implementation of a policy and program to safeguard the environment, human health and safety. For the 2014 Award KPO submitted a series of successful environment protection initiatives implemented recently including Gryphon Land Reclamation, GHG emission reduction, Gas Utilization, Waste and Water Management, Air Monitoring and Tree Planting. The competition was very tight - the Jury had to choose from among ten nominees including several world famous companies and brands.

This prestigious Award testifies to KPO continuous commitment to community and the best of environmental practices and standards.
