KAMAZ Expands M1842 Range
OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ plans to bring to market several new versions of the M1842 (KAMAZ-5490) long-haul tractor the production of which was launched at the end of last year. This news was announced by Evgeny Makarov, Design Manager, Head of the KAMAZ Advanced Vehicle Lines Development project in the company’s newspaper Vesti KAMAZa.
The M1842 long-haul tractor is KAMAZ’s great technological breakthrough in commercial vehicle production. Its distinctive feature is a cab made in partnership with Daimler AG. According to Mr. Makarov, it is planned to place several versions of M1842 on the market this year. “There will be engines with different capacities, modifications with automatic transmissions, retarderless versions (it’s about a braking system),” he told.
Besides, it is planned to produce a batch of heavy vehicles – KAMAZ-65207 (the first version with a 400hp engine) and KAMAZ-65206 – a 6x4 26t GVW bolster-type tractor in August. There are gas models and hybrid versions – diesel-electric and gas-electric vehicles.
“Next is another line – 6580, heavy vehicles, new generation 6520. They will be built on the same platform as 5490, but equipped with our engines, which should have a positive effect on their cost”, Evgeny Makarov noted.
