Taxify Named Best Estonian Mobile App
OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2014. Taxify, a utility for finding a taxi quickly, has been named as the overall winner of the competition for the best Estonian mobile application.
Taxify helps people find the nearest free taxi with just two clicks by putting the customers directly in touch with taxi drivers. The app recently won the popular vote of the startup competition Ajujaht (Brain Hunt).
In the field of culture and education, the Rahva Raamat bookstore's app won; in entertainment, the travel app Like a Local Guide.
In the business category, Taxify shared honors with Weekdone, a team management app.
The minister of economic affairs, Urve Palo, said the nominees demonstrate Estonia’s global quality in the field, uudised.err.ee reported.
All in all, 71 apps were submitted to the five categories of the competition. Besides Taxify, the winners willl go on to represent Estonia at the international mobile application World Summit Award Mobile.
