Moscow Mayor Launches Kozhukhovskaya Subway Line Tunnel Construction
OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin visited the Kossino-Ukhtomskaya Station under construction where the builders of the SK MOST Group of Companies have assembled four tunnel-boring machines and launched the tunneling for a new Moscow Subway Kozhukhovskaya Line.
The total length of the new line will be about 15 km to run from the Nizhnegorodskaya Ulitsa Station near the inner railway belt, down along the Ryazansky Prospekt and farther, outside the Moscow Beltway, to Zhulebino, Kossino-Ukhtomsky, and Nekrasovka Districts. The Kozhukhovskaya Line will have eight stations: Nizhnegorodskaya Ulitsa, Stakhanovskaya Ulitsa, Ferganskaya Ulitsa (with a transfer to the Lermontovsky Prospekt Station of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line), Saltykovskaya Ulitsa, Kossino-Ukhtomskaya, and Nekrasovka. The line will be put in service in 2016.
The new line will be built in two phases. In the first phase, companies of the SK MOST Group will build a section between the Kossino and Nekrasovka stations. The total length of the section is 8.25 km. The work on this section started in June 2013. The section is scheduled for completion in December 2015.
The tunneling between the stations will be conducted using tunnel-boring machines. The tunneling will be carried out from the Kossino-Ukhtomskaya Station in both directions: to the Nekrasovka Station and to the Kossino Station. The tunneling started in the left stage tunnel between the Kossino-Ukhtomskaya and Nekrasovka stations. The left stage tunnel, which is 1381.8 meters long, is driven by the Herrenknecht EPB-6150 Tunnel-Boring Machine.
According to Sergei Sobyanin, the stations of the new Kozhukhovskaya Line will help improve the transportation services for 800 thousand Muscovites and relieve the load on the Kalininskaya Line and on the south-eastern section of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line. The Kossino-Ukhtomskaya Station will be a springboard for the construction of the entire new Kozhukhovskaya Line. It is planned to put in place a transfer hub here, including ground public transportation stops and a park-and-ride facility. Up to 160 thousand rides a day will be using the station.
