Agriculture, Rural Development Become Priority Sectors for Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2014. The cabinet approved a draft law completing and amending the national development strategy Moldova 2020.
The draft establishes the agricultural and rural development sectors as strategic areas for Moldova’s development, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The decision fits into efforts to achieve the goal on promoting the central role of agricultural and rural sector in Moldova’s development, in the context of the Free Trade Agreement with EU.
The amendment aims at consolidating the local economy and communities from the rural sector. At the same time, this will facilitate the getting of conceptual and financial support from the development partners, international financial institutions and donors. The document includes a detailed analysis of the situation in agriculture and food industry, employment in the rural areas, as well as the strategic vision, goals concerning the food security and safety, preservation of natural resources and fiduciary fund etc.
