Ukraine, Estonia Enhance Cooperation in Agrarian Sector
OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2014. In the framework of the XXVІ International agroindustrial exhibition AGRO-2014 the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Ihor Shvayka met with Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Estonia Ivari Padar.
The interlocutors discuss exchange of experience in modernization of enterprises in compliance with the EU requirements, as well as food industry, the livestock breeding, fisheries and information technologies.
Ihor Shvayka emphasized Ukraine is interested in extending of agricultural products delivery, namely: grain, meat products, sunflower oil, confectionery and dairy products. The import exceptionally included fishes, crustaceans, mollusks, ready or tinned products from fish and crustaceans. “We don’t distinct the countries between the categories: large or small, more of less important partners. The experience of Ukraine-Estonia cooperation proved a desire to work and responsible attitude to partnership-like relations appears principal,” the Minister stressed.
Moreover, the parties considered deep and comprehensive free trade area. The Minister noted in the framework of the future FTA Ukraine counts on substantial improvement and better access to the EU markets for not just traditional raw products but as well products of processing industry, so the country boosts production and constantly improves the quality of foodstuffs.
By an initiative of the Estonian party, an opportunity to cooperate in grants for agriculture and use of alternative energy sources.
In the end of the meeting the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Ihor Shvayka and Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Estonia Ivari Padar signed action plan for enhancement of cooperation between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Nutrition of Ukraine and Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Estonia for 2014-2016.
