Tax Board's List of Shame Operational From June in Estonia
OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2014. The Tax Board will publish the names of all companies with tax debt of 1,000 euros or more on its website starting on June 1, in an attempt to create accounting discipline.
“Publishing the list should increase the interest of larger companies to keep their duties in check,” said Triin Raaper of the Tax Board, citing the example of Portugal, where a similar scheme has received positive feedback.
The list will be updated at the beginning of each month. Information on debt was available to everyone before, but those interested had to search for each individual company.
Currently there are about 5,000 companies which qualify for the list.
