OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2014. CEO Oh-joon Kwon, who has been communicating and aligning with employees through worksite communication, recently visited major subsidiaries in Korea, followed by visits to overseas sites to listen to the voices of employees.

CEO Kwon visited domestic and overseas subsidiaries and sites from May 7th to 13th, looking through the management situation, and encouraged employees putting their efforts into recreating `POSCO the Great.`

The visit of CEO Kwon, who communicated with on-site employees via visits to client companies following the first visit of the steelworks sites after inauguration and CEO communication gatherings, started with visits to POSCO Specialty Steel, POSCO CHEMTECH, and POSCO M-TECH on May 7th. CEO Kwon emphasized numerous times the importance of adhering to basic regulations on safety and ethics, and putting efforts into operation to build a competitive company.

At POSCO Specialty Steel, he thanked all employees for combining efforts to secure competitiveness despite the difficult management situation, and requested a further increase in steel core competitiveness by bringing together solution marketing and R&D. CEO Kwon at POSCO CHEMTECH reviewed the business status and execution plans of carbon materials which include negative electrode materials, and encouraged employees in their efforts to increase refractory productivity and safe production. CEO Kwon asked POSCO M-TECH to prudently carry out new business and increase business completeness of the molybdenum and high purity alumina businesses.

CEO Kwon then headed overseas to sites in Indonesia, Thailand, and Myanmar.

On May 9th, CEO Kwon visited Krakatau POSCO, the first integrated steelworks constructed overseas in Indonesia by POSCO to take a look at the status of furnace operations, and also visited steelmaking, continuous casting, and steel plate plants, as well as the lime calcination plant and by-product gas power plant operated by subsidiaries, encouraging employees and listening to their difficulties. CEO Kwon particularly checked the application status of low-cost operation technology including the use of Indonesian iron ores and by-product recycling, and requested expansion of domestic sales in Indonesia and product variations such as steel plates for shipbuilding, and high quality products for heavy equipment and wind power towers to secure profitability. He also asked Krakatau POSCO to make additional efforts to secure the lead in the Southeast Asia steel market centered on Indonesia, which is continuing a high annual average increase of 6%, and surrounding countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Myanmar, which have high possibility of economic growth.

The CEO then visited Thailand on the following two days, as well as POSCO South Asia, POSCO-Thainox, and POSCO-TBPC.

He requested proactive efforts regarding high quality steel sales and expanding export volume centered on POSCO South Asia, which is the core of the Southeast and Southwest Asia region steel network, and requested POSCO-Thainox to focus on developing client companies with actual demand and development of low-cost operation technology as well as product technologies. At POSCO-TBPC, CEO Kwon requested expansion of the market through generating new demand, while also increasing items provided to clients to ultimately prepare a differentiated marketing strategy which expands the scope of clients and products.

On the 13th, the last day, CEO Kwon visited the Daewoo International Myanmar gas fields. These gas fields are the largest oil gas fields discovered in the past 30 years, by a Korean company, and started main gas production in July of last year for export to China and Myanmar. CEO Kwon said that he has high expectations for the Myanmar gas fields among POSCO Group`s new businesses because of expectations of reaching daily production of 500 million ft? in the second half of this year, and requested to generate profits by increasing synergy between POSCO Family companies.

POSCO plans to accelerate the plan to achieve the `POSCO the Great` vision based on CEO Kwon`s proactive worksite communication activities.
