Moldova Reduces Purchase of Electricity from Ukraine by 9,5%
OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2014. Such data are cited by the Ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine, noting that for this period Ukraine reduced electricity export by 9.2% to 2 billion 869,9 million kW/H. Moldova took the 4-th place by volumes of import of Ukrainian electric energy in January-April this year, after Hungary - 1,46 billion kWh (of-2.1%), Belarus - 693,6 million (-32,3%) and Poland - 429,6 million (+37,9%).
As it was informed before, in 2013 Moldova increased import of electricity from Ukraine by 72,1% - up to 1 billion 455 million kW/h, and in monetary terms – by 1,9 times - up to USD 100,08 million. Moldova took 3-th place on the volumes of purchases of Ukrainian electricity in monetary terms, after Hungary (USD 237,25 million) and Belarus (USD 191,701 million).
Ukrainian electricity supplies to Moldova by company DTEK Vostokenergo", a part of DTEK which is the largest private energy company of Ukraine owned by the well-known businessman Rinat Ahmetov. The price for electricity supplies to consumers of Moldova from April 1, 2012 to 31 March 2014 amounted to 6.9 cents per 1 kW/h, and from April 1, 2014, it decreased by 6.8 per cent.
