ICBC Mobile Banking Gains Momentum
OREANDA-NEWS. May 28, 2014. In recent years, ICBC has been actively responding to the trend of mobile internet by accelerating the development of mobile financial services such as mobile banking. The Bank has seen rapid growth in mobile banking customers as well as in business volume, shifting from “the bank at home” to “the bank at hand”.
According to the statistics, ICBC has over 120 million mobile banking customers, representing a year-on-year increase of nearly 50%. The number of ICBC’s active mobile banking APP users has increased by over 130% versus the same period last year and the business volume of ICBC WeChat banking in the first quarter increased by 112% over the fourth quarter last year.
ICBC has intensively promoted the application of E-banking services in emerging mobile devices over the recent years and took the lead in launching “ICBC Mobile Banking” service, which covers all the mobile financial products routinely used by customers. The mobile banking APP, for example, has covered most non-cash financial services and launched innovative products such as cash withdrawal reservation, SMS queuing, WeChat Shake and automatic cash pooling as well as unique services such as mobile phone recharge, utility bill payment, traffic fine payment and wealth management. ICBC has constantly improved and redesigned the service interface of mobile banking APP in line with the development of mobile terminals to adapt to customers’ habits, simplify the operations and enrich services. Moreover, ICBC has launched WeChat banking to allow customers to access more convenient WeChat banking services after following the “ICBC E-banking” WeChat public account. ICBC is constantly diversifying the methods of ID verification of mobile banking and other emerging channels. It has introduced the latest model of E-banking security product general U-Shield, which can be used on PCs, tablet PCs and smart phones to ensure both security and convenience.
ICBC has deepened the creation of mobile banking experience zone to allow customers to download mobile banking APP at the outlets and experience mobile banking services and provide better guidance for first-time users. ICBC has also staged a variety of mobile banking promotions. In an event named “Banking @ Home - Environmental Protection Starts with Me”, customers may have five times as many “carbon emission reduction” bonus points as in other channels after completing designated transactions through mobile banking, which can be used to snap up mobile phone recharge cards, digital products and home appliances.
