OREANDA-NEWS. May 28, 2014. Today, the intergovernmental negotiations of Kazakhstan and Albania headed by Prime Ministers of the two countries Karim Massimov and Edi Rama, who arrived in our country with the first official visit, has been held in Astana.

During the meetings in the narrow and extended formats, the parties discussed issues of strengthening Kazakh-Albanian cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Heads of Government noted the need to build business cooperation in various sectors.

In particular, E. Rama said that there will be promising bilateral cooperation in implementation of infrastructure projects in the oil and gas sector, development of tourism, strengthening cultural ties.

In turn, K. Massimov noted the importance of strengthening trade and economic ties for development of Kazakh-Albanian relations. In this regard, the Prime Minister proposed the establishment of an intergovernmental commission, and one of its objectives should be to prepare documents on mutual investment protection and avoidance of double taxation.

"Our countries must conclude intergovernmental agreements that may give further impetus to our relations," Karim Massimov said.

Following the meeting, heads of government signed a joint declaration. Within the framework of the Declaration, the parties agreed to support initiatives aimed at promoting political dialogue and economic and trade relations between the two countries, to create a legal framework for bilateral cooperation through agreements that comply with national interests of both countries.
