OREANDA-NEWS.  May 28, 2014. The Bankruptcy administrator of Snoras will sell the collection of paintings owned by the bank, which consists of 27 works of art by Lithuanian and foreign painters, at auction. All the paintings to be sold separately; the total original selling price of all the works of art exceeds LTL 140,000.

Among the most expensive works are the canvas Bridge by Arunas Rutkus, the painting Ballerinas Who Have Eaten Snow by Linas Cicenas, and the twelve works by Adomas Galdikas, a Lithuanian abstract impressionist of the first half of the 20th century. The original selling price of each of these paintings amounts from LTL 5,500 to LTL 18,500.

“All the paintings being sold were owned by the bank and hung in the central headquarters or other divisions of the bank. Those are mainly the works by Lithuanian painters but there are also a few works of art by Belorussian and Estonian artists. It is interesting that the sales of art collections are held rarely; therefore, it is a unique opportunity to acquire the works of artists who have gained recognition, which would not be otherwise available for public sale”, said Neil Cooper, Bankruptcy administrator of Snoras.

Paintings by Arunas Rutkus can be found in galleries and private collections in the USA, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, France and many other countries. His painting Leaf belongs to a popular singer Sting. The art collection owned by Snoras includes the four works of Linas Cicenas, a Lithuanian modern painter, who has gained wide recognition.

The auction of the collection of paintings owned by Snoras will be held on 29 May 2014; however, only those bidders who have registered in advance will be eligible to participate in the auction. All those who wish to view the works placed for sale will be able to do so on 23 May 2014, Friday, from 10:00 to 12:00, at the address: A. Vivulskio St. 7A. The works of art being sold at auction, the original prices and certificates of authenticity are available at: snoras.com/lt/art.
