OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2014. According to freshly released data from Eurostat, household electricity prices increased the most in Estonia of any EU nation between the second half of 2012 and the second half of 2013, but remained one of the cheapest in the European Union.

Estonia saw a 22 percent price increase during the period, the report said, with the second highest recorded in Greece (+20 percent), followed by Romania (+17 percent). The union's average increase was just 2.8 percent.

Expressed in euros, the average price was lowest in the second half of 2013 in Bulgaria (8.8 euros per 100 kilowatt hour), Romania (12.8 euros per 100 kwh) and Hungary (13.3 euros per 100 kwh).

Estonia was fifth lowest on the list with an average price of 13.7 euros per 100 kilowatt hours. EU's average was 20.1 euros.
