OREANDA-NEWS. Ilim Group has dispatched special-purpose machinery and staff to assist in putting out a fire which broke out near Dalniy settlement in the Irkustk Oblast and destroyed 25 houses. Currently, over 20 vehicles (including 8 bulldozers, 4 trawls, crew trucks and fire engines) and over 40 people from Ilim's Branch in the Ust-Ilimsk District are fighting the fire. 5 motor-driven ships have been mobilized from Ilim's location to evacuate people and machinery. Ilim's employees have built over 20 km of firebreaks along the edges of the fire. There are now patrols in place and communication with a patrol airplane.

Ilim Group provides assistance to the residents of Dalniy settlement who have been affected by the fire. Upon request from the local administration, the company has supplied 11 tons of fuel to run the diesel power plant which provides heat and power for the school building where those who have lost their homes to the fire have been temporarily settled. Presently, the matter of financial support to the settlement residents is being looked into.

Ilim Group implements all fire prevention activities required in accordance with current legislation on its concessions. In the course of preparation for the fire season, the Branch of OJSC Ilim Group in the Ust-Ilimsk District has additionally purchased 12 special-purpose vehicles, constructed over 30 km of fire roads and 155 km of firebreaks, performed maintenance of 128 km of firebreaks, and installed 20 fire safety signs.
