OREANDA-NEWS. On May, 23, on the second day of work of the XVIII St.Petersburg International Economic Forum Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen has signed the Agreement on cooperation between the Government of the republic and OJSC Oil Company Rosneft.

Rosneft is the leader of Russia's petroleum industry and the world's largest publicly traded petroleum company. Rosneft activities include hydrocarbon exploration and production, upstream offshore projects, hydrocarbon refining, and crude oil, gas and product marketing in Russia and abroad.

The stand of Rosneft

The agreement of the republic with Russia's largest company stipulates cooperation in the sphere of implementation of industrial, financial, investment, social programs promoting integrated development of the region and creation of favourable economic, legal, and organizational conditions for the company's business activities within the territory of the republic, including participation in creation of the South Karelia tourist and recreation cluster. Besides, Rosneft intends to render support to institutions of culture and object of cultural heritage of Karelia.

- Rosneft is a global brand, and many countries would be honoured to establish contacts with this company. The fact that this world-famous company comes to Karelia offers great opportunities to our republic, - Alexander Khudilainen has told upon signing of the document. - These are social and infrastructural objects, fuelling, opportunitied for development of ports and tourism.

In the pavilion of the XVIII St.Petersburg International Economic Forum

Participation of Head of Karelia in work of the XVIII St.Petersburg International Economic Forum was rather eventful. Within the framework of the Forum a number of meetings of Head of the region with heads of the largest companies have been held, several important agreements focused on social and economic development of Karelia, as well as cooperation within the scope of preparation for the 100th anniversary of the republic have been signed.

- We describe Karelia as a region open for investments, a region with great prospects and good future. The Forum offers great opportunities for negotiations with the largest investors from Russia and from abroad, - Head of the republic has emphasized summing up the work at the forum.

- We have never signed so many agreements with the leading companies of the country in terms so short. Today we have got such strategic investors as Sistema JSFC, Renova Group of Companies JSC, Rosneft, have signed strategic agreements with the Government of Leningrad Region and Savings Bank of the Russian Federation. This is a good groundwork for Karelia's future, - Alexander Khudilainen has told.
