OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2014. President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 219 “Concerning the construction of the Vitebsk hydro-power plant on the Western Dvina River”.

In accordance with the decree, the Vitebsk hydro-power plant will be built before 1 January 2019 in line with the construction agreement between Vitebskenergo and the Chinese company China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd.

There are plans to build a facility with four hydro-power units with the total capacity of 40MW.

The total cost of the construction project will be USD189.55 million without VAT and customs duties. The project will be sponsored by China Development Bank and Vitebskenergo.
