OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2014. Russian Railways' President Vladimir Yakunin and Ren Zhengfei, Deputy Chairman of Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation in Shanghai.

According to the document, the partnership of the two companies provides for the development and implementation of projects such as the modernisation and development of wireless networks for professional technological communications using the GSM-R (GSM Lite) standard, broadband radio communications employing the LTE (eLTE, LTE-R) standard and audio and video conferencing systems, including high definition, for Russian Railways.

The agreement also foresees cooperation between the companies on the modernisation and development of computational complexes, transfer data networks for the technological needs of Russia's railways and primary communication networks for Russian Railways using wavelength-division multiplexing and IP technologies, as well as other projects.
