UPS Expands Delivery Coverage for Earliest Morning Service
OREANDA-NEWS. Early in the morning each day packages arrive by 8 a.m. containing someone's link to communicating with their families, friends and workplaces. Inside the packages delivered by UPS (NYSE: UPS) are hearing devices made by Oticon, Inc., one of the world's leading manufacturers of hearing devices.
The packages arrive via UPS Next Day Air Early A.M., the earliest morning delivery from UPS, and are an example of how premium express services remain vital when service is key.
Oticon employees work with a sense of urgency knowing that people are waiting for their devices to be returned after refurbishment, or for new ones to arrive. UPS will be back that evening to pick up devices that must arrive the next day at audiology or medical offices, thereby ensuring clients can quickly resume their normal activities.
"Service is a differentiator for Oticon and UPS has helped us deliver our promise of 'People First'," said Tom Falvey, vice president of operations. "We serve hearing care professionals and people with hearing loss by providing quality products and excellent service. UPS has worked with us to develop new processes for continuous improvement and supports us with a late pickup so we can process orders throughout the day. It's all about being easy to do business with and UPS helps us achieve that."
UPS was the first to introduce an early morning service - UPS Next Day Air Early A.M. - in 1994 and is now expanding the area serviced. As a result, UPS now serves more ZIPs and businesses by 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. than any other carrier.
With this expansion, more than 87 percent of all U.S. businesses in more than 25,000 ZIPs can receive guaranteed early morning deliveries. Saturday service is also available to certain destinations.
"Early morning deliveries are an important part of what UPS provides our customers," said Alan Gershenhorn, UPS chief sales, marketing and strategy officer. "UPS Early A.M. is growing double digit year-over-year because customers value this premium service."
Examples of industries that need morning deliveries are healthcare laboratories that want to receive specimens quickly to process patients' test results faster; professional service companies like legal and financial firms that depend on urgent documents; automotive or manufacturers of parts that are needed for urgent repairs; or high tech companies that need to repair mobile devices rapidly so their customers don't lose connectivity.
A complete list of the UPS Next Day Air Early A.M. ZIPs with committed delivery times is available on ups.com.
Businesses that need international express shipments can also take advantage of UPS's superior global network. UPS delivers to more countries from the U.S. by 9 a.m. and before noon than any other carrier, and has the earliest guaranteed delivery of customs-cleared shipments between the U.S. and China. For heavier shipments, UPS offers faster guaranteed palletized shipments in more lanes than any other carrier.
