OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2014. Currently turnover of e-commerce amounted to USD 600 million in Kazakhstan. It has been reported by the Chairman of the Agency for Communications and Information Askar Zhumagaliyev at the opening of the exhibition of information and communications technology (ICT) "ASTEX-2014".

"The next stage of development is active promotion of e-commerce services. Virtual commerce turnover totaled USD 600 million in Kazakhstan and is growing from year to year," A. Zhumagaliyev said.

Head of the Agency for Telecommunications and Information reminded that today Kazakhstan ranks 38th among 190 countries in the UN ranking in terms of the development of "e-government" and is at the 2nd position by development of e-participation. Our country shares this place with Singapore. It is worth noting that Kazakhstan rose to 16 positions compared to 2010 in this ranking.

"However, despite fairly good numbers, we still need to work hard and achieve new results in this area in the framework of the President’s instructions," A. Zhumagaliyev summed.

Meanwhile, the market size of e-commerce in Kazakhstan may reach USD 3.6 billion by the end of 2015. Such data were voiced by Chairman of the National Information Communication Technologies Holding "Zerde" Mirbolat Ajupov.
