OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2014. New company registration in Estonia has remained at a stable 20,000 a year for the last three years, one in three new companies is set up by a woman and one in five founders have previously been in business, a study by a commercial bank reveals. 

Some 43 percent of the new business people are 26-35 years of age and half have a university degree or some university, according to SEB.

"The cross-section of the new entrepreneurs is growing broader and the knowledge base is more mature," said the bank's business innovation director Mart Maasik.

The study was conducted for the first time and no direct comparison information from previous periods was available. The number of companies registered annually in Estonia is 4,000 more than in Latvia and 7,000 more than in Lithuania.
