OREANDA-NEWS. LLC Kirov Transmission (a subsidiary of the Kirov Group) has carried out a contract for the machining of electric motor stator frames s for LLC Siemens Electroprivod.

Under the contract with LLC Siemens Electroprivod, LLC Kirov Transmission will perform the machining of 284 stator frames for electric train motors. The plant will supply the customer with 24 items each month. It is expected that the contract will be completed in the first quarter of 2015.

The procedure for machining cast sections weighing 1.6 tons each includes boring, drilling, threadcutting, milling and many other operations. The articles are then subjected to several cycles of precision machining on a vertical rotary-type lathe and horizontal machining center.

Finally, each of the frames is subjected to examination using an inspection and measurement machine that evaluates compliance of 270 dimensions of the machined part with the customer's criteria, to an accuracy of measurement of 0.007 mm.

LLC Kirov Transmission had confirmed the compliance of its production processes with European quality standards and the requirements of LLC Siemens Electroprivod. To be able to perform the contract in a timely manner and to a high level of quality, the company has bought an additional rotary-type milling machine, and some of the staff members have received special training.

LLC Kirov Transmission has already started work on the contract. The first stator frames for electric motors subjected to a full cycle of machining at the Kirov Group's subsidiary have already been shipped to the customer. Siemens Electroprivod proposes to use the electric motors in Granite type electric locomotives - 16-wheel double mainline DC freight locomotives with induction traction motor drive.
