SK MOST Prepares for Launching Span Structure of Dorogomilovsky Bridge
OREANDA-NEWS. During the reconstruction of the Dorogomilovsky bridge across the Moscow River, the builders of the SK MOST Group of Companies have already assembled more than one half of the span structure. The work is carried out as part of the project “Reconstruction and Development of the Moscow Railway Inner Belt.”
The length of the assembled span section is 127 meters. A total of 1320 metric tons of steel structures have been assembled, and the assembly work is conducted on a building slip using the 220-ton Liebherr truck crane. The girders weigh about 30 metric tons.
The builders are conducting preparations for the launching phase when the bridge span will move for another 22 meters over the Moscow River. The total length of the Dorogomilovsky bridge span will be of 195 meters. The span assembly and installation are scheduled for completion in July 2014.
The new Dorogomilovsky Bridge across the Moscow River will have a custom-design span structure. Given the width of the Moscow River, a continuous trussed-girder ballasted lower deck steel span structure was designed for two railway tracks. The old bridge had an articulated axle span structure. Before starting the construction work, the builders of Mostotrest 2005 Company, which is part of the SK MOST Group of Companies, have dismantled the old bridge. They combined the two spans of the old bridge into one run, launched it to the left river bank, and then took it apart. The removal of the old bridge also includes the complete removal of the old rubble stone piers, and the channel pier will be removed from the river bottom where the depth is of 4.5 meters.
The builders are finishing the concreting of pier No. 2 simultaneously with assembly of the steel structures. Piers No.1 and No.3 have been completed.
The reconstruction of the Dorogomilovsky Bridge across the Moscow River is carried out as part of the project “Reconstruction and Development of the Moscow Railway Inner Belt.” A total of six engineering installations are being reconstructed by companies of the SK MOST Group of Companies as part of the project.
