OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2014. The Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, and Czech Railways have signed a cooperation agreement on international passenger rail transport and carry-on baggage.

The agreement was signed during an international seminar held by the Federal Passenger Company and chaired by Mikhail Akulov, Vice-President at Russian Railways and Managing Director of the Federal Passenger Company, under the aegis of the Organisation for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD) Commission on Passenger Transport.

The document was signed by Oleg Nikitin, Deputy Managing Director of the Federal Passenger Company, and Roman Schultz, Deputy Director of Passenger Sales at Czech Railways.

"We prepared this agreement in a relatively short time," said Oleg Nikitin, who noted the mutual willingness to develop rail links between Russia and the Czech Republic and to cooperate in organising transport and improve its quality.

Roman Schultz, in turn, expressed confidence that under the agreement, there would be new opportunities for cooperation, including on the sale of electronic tickets for train services between Moscow and Prague.

The agreement also provides for cooperation on tariff policy and optimising the use of rolling stock, in particular by avoiding unnecessary downtime and empty runs.

In addition, the parties agreed to develop joint proposals to improve the legal framework governing the transportation of international passenger traffic between Russia and the Czech Republic.
