Singapore Airlines Suspends Services to Cairo and Riyadh
OREANDA-NEWS. Singapore Airlines will be suspending services to Cairo in Egypt and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. The last flight to Riyadh will be operated on 28 September 2014 and the last flight to Cairo will be operated on 30 September 2014.
The difficult decision to suspend the services was taken as a result of the sustained weak performance of both routes.
Customers holding confirmed tickets issued prior to today for travel to and from Riyadh and Cairo after 28 September 2014 and 30 September 2014, respectively, will be eligible for refunds, without administrative fees or penalties. This also applies to KrisFlyer redemption tickets. Efforts will be made to contact affected customers to offer alternative travel options.
Singapore Airlines will continue to serve Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Connections to and from both Cairo and Riyadh are also possible on other airlines via some of Singapore Airlines’ nearby points such as Dubai in the UAE.
Cairo is served three times per week via Dubai while Riyadh is served three times per week on a non-stop basis from Singapore. Jeddah flights currently operate via Riyadh but will be operated via Dubai with effect from 2 October 2014[1].
