OREANDA-NEWS. Hon'ble Minister of Haryana Government and Chairperson Emeritus of OP Jindal Group Smt. Savitri Jindal visited Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL)'s Angul Unit and inaugurated the 810 MW Captive Power Plant of the 6 MTPA Steel Project. She dedicated the 'Savitri Jindal private Airstrip' at Angul to the service of the Nation in the presence of Shri. Naveen Jindal, Hon'MP (Loksabha) and Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. and grandson Shri Venkatesh Jindal.

Smt. Jindal visited other units of JSPL project such as the widest plate mill of India, biggest Steel Melting Shop of India, Lime & Dolomite Plant, Oxygen Plant, DRI plant etc. "I am very happy that JSPL has adopted very environment friendly new technology for its steel plant. The Coal Gasification-DRI route will be the first of its kind in the world," said Smt. Jindal

Smt. Jindal inaugurated the Engineers Hostel No. 3 of JSPL Township, which can accommodate about 500 engineers. Smt. Jindal interacted with students of OP Jindal School & Jindal Vidyapith as well as members of Jindal Mahila Samiti. Appreciating the CSR efforts taken up in its periphery area she said, "It is the basic philosophy of JSPL that the Community in the periphery area of JSPL plants should grow along with us. I am sure the efforts taken up by JSPL will definitely help in improving quality of life of people in the periphery on a sustainable basis".

Mr. Naveen Jindal, Member of Parliament & Chairman of JSPL said, "The Coal Gasifiers of the coal gasification plant are working very well and soon we will start producing sponge iron, using synthesis gas from the CGP". He appreciated the efforts of the JSPL team in successfully setting up world's first CGP DRI Route for steel making.

Smt. Savitri Jindal is the Chairperson Emeritus of OP Jindal Group and has been elected as MLA for the second time from 2009. Presently, she is serving as Minister of Urban Local Bodies in the Haryana Government. In the previous Cabinet of Haryana Government, she had served as the Minister of State for Revenue & Disaster Management, Consolidation, Rehabilitation and Housing.

As a philanthropist, she has made significant personal contribution for public welfare. Keeping up the values established by the Founder Chairman of the Group Shri OP Jindal, Smt. Savitri Jindal has taken several initiatives to provide healthcare facilities, education and employment to those in need.
