British Experts to Prepare Report on Economic Situation in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2014. Deputy Economics Minister Octavian Calmic met British Ambassador to Moldova Philip Batson.
The meeting took place at an initiative by the ambassador, and is aimed at setting meetings between the Economics Ministry’s leadership and a group of economic experts from the United Kingdom, the Economics Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
A working group will be created, made up of both British and Moldovan experts. These meetings have the goal to prepare a detailed report on the present social and political climate in the relations between the Chisinau and Tiraspol central authorities.
Octavian Calmic welcomed the initiative by the British experts, stressing the importance of such analyses and reports, in order to have a vision on the situation in Moldova. The deputy minister also emphasised the Economics Ministry’s openness to participate in the meetings scheduled for the next week. Moreover, the Economics Ministry is willing to unveil information on consolidating the trust between Moldova and the Tiraspol authorities, including in the context of the new Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.
The report is to be presented in next July, and will provide an assessment of the efforts to strengthen the confidence between the two banks of the Dniester and the economic situation in Moldova. At the same time, the report will identify possible scenarios, costs and benefits for the Transnistrian conflict settlement.
