American Utility PSEG Nuclear Extends Contract with AREVA
OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2014. PSEG Nuclear has extended through 2022 the contract signed with AREVA for outage and maintenance activities at the Salem units 1 and 2, and Hope Creek nuclear generating stations in New Jersey.
Following the first contract signed in July 2013, AREVA will continue to provide its technical support to PSEG’s pressurized and boiling water reactors through refueling, inspections and steam generator services. This contract reinforces AREVA’s position as a service supplier in the boiling water reactor market.
Located on the same site, PSEG Nuclear’s Salem and Hope Creek generating stations comprise the second largest commercial nuclear facility in the United States. The three units generate enough electricity to power approximately 3 million homes each day.
“AREVA has successfully worked with PSEG Nuclear for many years, and we remain dedicated to our common objectives for the highest levels of safety, quality, and performance,” said Philippe Samama, AREVA Installed Base Business Division executive vice president. “Now more than ever, we are committed to working in close cooperation with our customers to better understand their needs and identify solutions for continuously improving the safety and reliability of their operations.”
“We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with AREVA,” explained Bob Braun, senior vice president and chief operating officer for PSEG Nuclear. “This extension will further support our refueling outage efforts and the work of our dedicated employees.”
