New TV Channel to Air on June 1 in Estonia
OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2014. The Technical Surveillance Authority has given the nod for the creation of a new television channel, Kanal 8, with owners saying they hope to begin broadcasting at the beginning of June.
According to the board members, the owners are a group of friends who want to show how easy it is to set up a television channel, Postimees reported, adding that they hope to survive with a budget of a few hundred thousand euros for a few years.
The channel will focus on local news, with correspondence in a number of smaller towns, live coverage of motorsports events, as the friends are motorsports enthusiasts. They also hope to show documentaries, with owners hoping to draw comparisons with the Discovery Channel.
