OREANDA-NEWS. May 07, 2014. Common electric-power market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will start operation by 2019, the Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Dzhaksaliyev said at a meeting called "Analysis of the impact of Eurasian integration processes on the power sector".

During the last year the experts of the three countries discussed the issues related to the electricity sector. Prior to July 1, 2015 there will be developed a concept of creating a common electric-power market. Prior to July 1, 2016 the program will be worked out to form a common electric electric-power market.  Member-states will conclude an international treaty establishing the common electric-power market of the Eurasian Economic Union until July 1, 2019.

B.Dzhaksaliyev noted that the energy sector of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus is historically integrated. However, it is too early to speak about the common electric energy market due to the different existing models of the three states.
