OREANDA-NEWS. At PJSC “Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol” of Metinvest Group a mounting of electric gradient fish-protecting units on pumping station water supply points “Kalmius-1” and “Kalmius-2” has been finished. The enterprise assigned about 500 thousand hryvnas for the fish death prevention and the conservation of the Kalmius river fish recourses.

Fish protecting units on water supply points existed earlier but the Works decided to change them on more modern. The new equipment according the enterprise order has been produced by the polish company “ELEKTROTIM” (Vrotsclav city) and fully corresponds to the European ecological standards. The equipment complex includes cabinet with electronic and electric power units, electrode system and switching cable lines.

With the help of weak current the new complexes will frighten off fish far from the water supply point. Meanwhile on the experts' conclusion the current parameters don't show any danger to the living organisms.

Parallel with the adjustment of electric gradient system ichthyological observation are carried out by the specialists of Azov fishing control and other controlling units, which will estimate the new fish protection system effectiveness.

“Today this investing project has an important ecological meaning for the conservation of fish resources in the Kalmius river and is also one of the stages of regular realization of the nature protection measures at our Works,” - underlined Yurii Zinchenko, the General Director of PJSC “Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol”.
