OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2014. Waiting time can be a time to relax – or an opportunity to get things done: Starting now, holidaymakers and business travelers have a pleasant option for shortening their waiting time on Level G in Terminal 2 (Schengen departures).

Situated near gate G16, the new 220 square meter (2400 sq.ft.) recreation area has 34 reclining seats where passengers can read, check their phones, or just switch off. In addition, 20 business stations are available with power connections for computers and mobile devices. Access is free of charge for all passengers.

The redesigned waiting area was jointly developed by T2BG – the Terminal 2 operating company, held jointly by Munich Airport and Lufthansa – in cooperation with the furniture maker Vitra and the Munich design office "studio PS". Numerous plants and special lighting enhance the sense of calm. Monitors are positioned to allow passengers to keep an eye on their flight status. A similar recreation area that opened on Departure Level H (Non-Schengen) in mid-2012 has proved very popular with passengers.

For T2BG managing directors Christian Wallner and Marc Stadtlander, improving passenger comfort and the quality of amenities in Terminal 2 is an ongoing process. In Wallner's words: "The outstanding range and quality of services in Terminal 2 is a major reason behind the repeated successes of Munich Airport in the World Airport Awards and for our being selected Europe's best airport yet again this year." Marc Stadtlander added: "Lufthansa passengers not only enjoy fast and smooth transfers to connecting flights in Munich. Thanks to the attractive surroundings, they also find that their waiting time just flies by."
