Moldova Increases Import of Electricity from Ukraine by 2,7% in 1Q
OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2014. These figures are indicated by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, which remarks that in January-March 2014, Ukraine reduced the electricity export by 6/3% to 2 billion
As reported earlier, in 2013 Moldova increased the power import from Ukraine by 72.1% (609.3 million kWh) to 1 billion 455 million kWh in natural terms and 1.9 times to USD 100.08 million in monetary ones. Moldova is the third major importer of Ukrainian electricity, giving up to Hungary (USD 237.25 million) and Belarus (\\$191.701 million).
The Ukrainian power is supplied to Moldova by DTEK Vostokenergo, a member of the largest Ukrainian private energy company DTEK, owned by well-known businessman Rinat Ahmetov. From April 1 2012 till March 31 2014 Moldova was buying the electricity at 6.9 cents per kWh; since April 1 2004 it pays 6.8 cents per kWh.
