New RIC Сarriages to Run between Moscow - Helsinki
OREANDA-NEWS. From 1 June 2014, 13 new RIC-sized compartment cars and sleeper carriages dimensions will begin to run as part of passenger train No. 32/31 Leo Tolstoy between Moscow - Helsinki. This service is operated by the Federal Passenger Company.
RIC stands for Regolamento Internazionale delle Carrozze or International Coach Regulations, which covers the international use of railway passenger coaches between European railways.
Tickets for the train's upgraded formation are already on sale, although fares are remaining at the same level as previously.
Passengers on this service can also expect other innovations from 1 June 2014. The design of the dining car has been changed to reproduce the atmosphere of Russia's cultural environment at the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth centuries, when Leo Tolstoy lived and worked. The train is of course named after Russia's greatest writer.
A new menu is also being introduced, with meals prepared according to recipes from the cookbook of Tolstoy's wife Sophia Andreyevna.
In addition, passengers on the Leo Tolstoy train will have access to an electronic library, with each carriage containing e-books with Tolstoy's works.
