TCS Honored by Lumity as 2014 Community Corps Corporate Champion
OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has been honored as the 2014 Community Corps Corporate Champion by Lumity, a Chicago-based non-profit organization that helps charity organizations fulfill their mission through technology, financial support services, and trainings. TCS was recognized for its myriad programs to improve the quality and accessibility of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education in North America, and its multi-year partnership with Lumity in support of the organization's goals.
“TCS is delighted to be honored by Lumity as the organization's 2014 Community Corps Corporate Champion,” said Surya Kant, TCS President, North America, UK and Europe. “At TCS, we feel it is our responsibility to deliver the passion and expertise of our employees in service of the communities in which we work and live, igniting students' interest in STEM subjects that can set them on a path to become the technology innovators of tomorrow. This designation reinforces our deep commitment to the city of Chicago in the years ahead.”
"We are thrilled to recognize TCS for its deep passion and valuable contribution in support of Lumity,” said Kara Kennedy, executive director of Lumity. “TCS has been a key partner for many years and our non-profit job board, NPO.net, would not be what it is today without TCS's staff behind the scenes. We are both committed to STEM education, so I look forward to the opportunities in a continuing fruitful partnership.”
The 2014 Community Corps Corporate Champion award from Lumity saluted TCS's broader North America STEM educational efforts - which range from the classroom to the boardroom - for example, TCS's goIT student technology program, a multi-tiered initiative engaging students, teachers, parents, universities, and local governments, with the goal of increasing student excitement and participation in technology-related careers. Since 2009, goIT has influenced more than 7,000 students across 35 school districts, and this year it is reaching schools and students across 10 cities in the US and Toronto, Canada.
