FAS Starts Inspections of Oil Companies in Kamchatka
OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2014. The Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Kamchatka regions (Kamchatka OFAS Russia) initiated a case against “Kamchatnefteproduct” OJSC, that has the dominant position on the market of retail sales of gasoline in the Kamchatka region, upon signs of violating antimonopoly law (Clause 1 Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”).
Earlier FAS started inspecting “Rosneft” and “Alliance” oil companies that are the main suppliers of motor fuel on the markets of the Far East Federal District. FAS intends to verify substantiation of the current prices not only in retail but also in the wholesale and small wholesale market segments. Particularly, in the past 1.5 months prices in small wholesale in Kamchatka increased from 13%, although exchange prices have been going down for nearly a month. Such inconsistency forms the grounds for inspections.
Prices for oil products were a subject of a meeting at Vice Prime-Minister of the Russian Federation, Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far East Federal District, Yury Trutnev. Following up the meeting, FAS was also instructed to inspect whether actions of oil companies comply with the antimonopoly law.
The company that has the dominant position on the market exercised actions that lead or can lead to preventing, restricting, eliminating competition and (or) infringing the interests of other persons, particularly fixing, maintaining monopolistically high or low prices are prohibited.
