Moldovan PM Stands for Altering Fuel Pricing Methodology
OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2014. The Premier briefed that to journalists after a sitting of the ruling coalition at which, among other issues, the pricing on the oil market was discussed.
As Iurie Leanca sees it, the prices on oil products in Moldova must be realistic, and the methodology of the pricing should be altered. The Premier promised to amend the law to make the prices practical. “We have been close enough to take this decision, which, I hope, will add some order to this market no later than in a week", the Premier said. Earlier, Iurie Leanca said the government of Moldova is going to consider the bill on oil products to bring the fuel prices down.
Amidst devaluation of the national currency against US Dollar and Euro the companies are rising the fuel prices, the Premier emphasized. “I have never seen them bringing the prices down when Moldovan Leu strengthens" he said. According to him, all previous attempts to set the market in rights by introducing the new methodology of pricing and amending the law helped little. The bill on oil products has been pending in the Office of State for a year and a half.
The Premier directed Vice-premier, Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar, Finance Minister Anatol Arapu and all those in charge to get ready for considering this document in the Cabinet. According to Iurie Leanca, the market needs the order, a size of the oil excise, profitability ceilings and regional fuel prices, including those in Romania, Hungary and Baltic States, should be discussed with representatives of the association of oil product importers. Besides, the sale of fuel by tickets also needs consideration.
